Yvonne
was born and brought up in Northumberland, going on to study art
at Newcastle College and Liverpool College of Art, where she did
her Diploma in Art and Design. She lectured full-time for 5 years
and became a freelance illustrator in 1978, since when she has
worked for all the major British, and more recently US, publishers.
She
has completely illustrated two books: 'A Dictionary of Fairies'
and 'The Iron Wolf' by Richard Adams. In 1985 she won The Golden
Stamp Award, and designed The World's Most
Beautiful Stamp for the British Post Office.
Her
work has featured each year in the European
|
Illustration
Annual Exhibition; and in many other exhibitions including those
at the Bluecoat Gallery, Liverpool; for the Scottish and Welsh
Arts Council; Hamilton's Gallery, London and the London Illustrators
Art Gallery. Her solo exhibitions include shows at the Neville
Gallery, Bath. In addition, her art also features in the Private
Collection of Mr L.V. Seeborg of Maryland, USA.
She
works with a delicate pastel palette, and has that rare ability
to capture the poignancy of childhood with a detail and charm
unrivalled since the days of the early 20th century child artists.
It is this quality that makes her exquisite art so truly unique.
This
website showcases a small sample of her work.
